Use of Technology Acceptance Models for Scientific Research

Use of Technology Acceptance Models for Scientific Research - Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is a model that is often used for the analysis of factors that affect the acceptance of a system / information system. This model was introduced by Fred Davis around 1986.

Currently, several revisions of the model have been proposed. The following is the latest version developed by scientists named Venkatesh & Davis in 1996.

Use of Technology Acceptance Models for Scientific Research

Currently, there are 3 factors that always influence the use of a system based on Fred Davis research. That is:

Perceived Usefulness

A level where a person can believe that when using the system, his performance at work can improve.

Perceived Ease of Use

A level where a person is able to believe that by using the system, then he does not need a big effort.

Intention To Use

Behavioral tendencies to use a technology.

Well, the three factors mentioned above can be used as variables in scientific research. Its function is to determine how the user's acceptance of a system or information system that will be built or already running.

Example :

Based on the journal An Analysis of the Technology Acceptance Model in Understanding University. Students' Behavioral Intention to Use e-Learning (Park, 2009) uses TAM to conduct an analysis of students' habits of using e-Learning.

And based on the journal Using the Technology Acceptance Model in Understanding Academics' Behavioral Intention to Use Learning Management Systems (Alharbi, 2014) also uses TAM to see and measure the desire of academic actors in using the Learning Management System.

Various scientific studies have used TAM and have shown that TAM is a valid model to test the acceptance of an information system. So, the TAM model can be recommended as a research variable if it requires a test of the acceptance of an information system.
